May Day: 5/1/14
I asked my grandmother to recall what she could about this particular long lost special day. And she told me.
“We use to make up little baskets of flowers and put them on people’s porches then run.”
The 40 Days After Easter.
After Easter: Many people these days tend to forget that Jesus stayed an additional 40 days after He rose from the grave.
Holy Week: Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday: The guards shook for fear of him and became like dead men.
Holy Week: Saturday – Stone Cold Tomb
Holy Week: Saturday. It was Saturday. The Jewish Sabbath. So no work would be done from sunset the night before until sunset this night. That is why there was such a rush to have Jesus prepared for burial and placed into the tomb by sunset Friday night (when the Sabbath officially would begin).
Holy Week: Good Friday?
If you have seen the amazing movie by Mel Gibson The Passion of the Christ, you know that calling the day Jesus was crucified “good” seems a bit strange. But the fact is, if you know the story, it does have a happy ending.
Holy Week: Maundy Thursday
Most people don’t realize that the “Last Supper” was actually a Passover Seder Dinner that Jesus celebrated with His disciples.
